Reversal Coming Up

Coming up on May 13, one week from the of this posting, will be the ileostomy reversal. As we talked about in the last blog post this will be a shorter surgery and Lord willing only one night stay in the hospital. I also found out that my port will be removed as well! So amazing!

On April 28 had the barium enema, which is a live X-ray session that is used with contrast to see how the colon looks. According to the technician the colon looked really good. No leaks or other issues were seen in the colon! Praise the Lord.

During the session I was able to watch the contrast move through the colon; super fascinating! At one point they needed the dye to move closer to Bob so they tipped the machine head first and watched gravity do its thing. So cool.

The process had two objectives. 1) look for leaks and colon issues and 2) clean the colon out. I didn’t think there was anything in the colon but the enema sure found some! I can say I am cleaned out! 😳

Once again I am impressed with our human bodies. God made these amazing bodies even with all the issues they can have. Medical procedures are not fun but they give you the opportunity to witness the handiwork of an amazing Creator!

As I prepare for surgery I am thankful for the peace I have. Thankful for the healing I have been granted. I will be off for six weeks to get used to the “new” colon.

I am sad to miss a few games of The Big Dills (Josiah’s baseball) but thankful for GameChanger, might need subscribe to watch the live games.

Please join me in praying for the surgeon and the medical team. Pray for my family. Pray for the healing will be complete with no complications. Also, pray for the people I know and you know that cancer and are battling.

Much love to you all.
